Ten years ago I made a decision that changed the course of my life... and that decision was to train under Darina Allen at Ballymaloe Cookery School.
In this episode, Darina tells her fascinating story of how she went from being a young girl who’s “only ambition was to to find a nice chap” to running one of the most prestigious cookery schools in the world, educating thousands of people how to cook and grow their own food.
Darina is known for her endless energy in the business and her drive to make a positive impact in the world of food, but when we are talking she reveals she didn't have a plan at the outset. She explains that “the Ballymaloe Cookery School was born out of desperation absolutely”
But over 30 years on it's clear that this was Darina's calling as she continues to make such a big impact in the world of food, and in doing so is building a remarkable legacy.
